Our Covid-19 prevention strategy

The Australian Driving Institute is taking the prevention of the spread of Coronavirus Covid 19 very seriously. We are updating our policies and procedures during this pandemic regularly , in conjunction with advice from the State and Federal Governments of Australia. All of our Driver Training is continuing, however, we are conducting all of our programs with the consideration of each State's legal requirements at the time.

*Each of the following protocols are in place for training across each state of Australia. Please also refer to your state information below for any special requirements.

National Training CV19 Protocols

Each of our instructors across all states, have their own Covid 19 Car Cleaning kits containing:

  • Surface wipes

  • Hand sanitiser

  • Liquid soap for road side stops with running water

  • Methylated spirits

  • Disposable cloths

  • Rubbish bags

  • Disposable gloves

Temperatures of participants are taken prior to the commencement of their training.

Cleaning and disinfecting of the vehicle, during training, is done in accordance with guidance from Safe Work Australia and public health authority. It includes the following vehicle points being wiped clean using wipes or methylated spirits after each use and in between participants of the same training session:

  • Steering Wheels

  • Handles

  • Controls

  • Seatbelts

  • Gears and levers 

Hand wash is carried by trainers and participants are encouraged to wash their hands before and after breaks at toilets, cafes and other stops where contamination may take place.

Breaks during training are taken every 90 mins and the vehicle aired out.

Windows are down (how far is dependent on weather conditions) during practical components and heaters and air conditioners are set to fresh air. Not circulation.

Trainers are to wear gloves supplied if required to administer First Aid or contact with an unknown person or place.

South Australia

The Australian driving institute defensive driving and 4WD courses in South Australia

Currently, in South Australia, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios based on selected program. Training is completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.

Theory components of training programs are conducted in our training rooms at our head office location (7 Benjamin St, St Marys) or the client's office. Training rooms are allocated to each session, dependent on the number of participants. Please note that Virtual Theory sessions are also available via the video conferencing platform, Zoom.

Participants presenting with a cough and seem or feel unwell, are asked to have a RAT test.  All ADI staff have access to a RAT and will supply one to the participant at no cost.

Currently, in Victoria, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios based on selected program. Training is completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.

Theory components of training programs are conducted as per normal OR Virtual Theory sessions are also available via the video conferencing platform, Zoom.

NSW

The Australian Driving Institute defensive driving and 4WD courses in NSW

Currently, in NSW, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios based on selected program. Training is completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.

QLD

The Australian Driving Institute defensive driving and 4WD courses in Queensland

Currently, in Queensland, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios. Training is also completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.

Theory components of training programs are conducted as per normal OR Virtual Theory sessions are also available via the video conferencing platform, Zoom.

Currently, in Western Australia, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios. Training is also completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.

NT

The Australian Driving Institute defensive driving and 4WD courses in Northern Territory NT

Currently, in the Northern Territory, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios. Training is completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.

The Australian Driving Insttitute defensive driving and 4WD coures in Tasmania

Currently, in Tasmania, our programs are proceeding with the normal 1:1, 1:2 or 1:3 driver to participant ratios based on selected program. Training is completed in conjunction with the National Training CV19 protocols listed above.
